Ana Santos

Ana Santos shows, for the first time in her path, a corpus of work which constitutes itself as a series. Repeating the used materials and the same modus operandi, the works on display at Galeria Quadrado Azul disclose new directions in the artist’s work.

Ana Santos was born in Espinho, Portugal, in 1982. She lives and works in Lisbon. Graduated in Sculpture at Faculdade de Belas-Artes – Universidade do Porto (2005), she concluded the master degree in Contemporary Culture and New Technologies at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2010). Winner of the 10th edition of Novos Artistas Award from Fundação EDP in 2013; she was artist in residence at the International Studio & Curatorial Program, in New York (2010-2011), with a scholarship from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, and at the program O Sítio das Artes, by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, in Lisbon (2007); attended the Visual Arts course from the program Criatividade e Criação Artística, promoted by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (2006); studied at Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kunst, in Karlsruhe (2004).
Most recent solo exhibitions include Denominador Comum, at Galería The Goma in Madrid (2013); inverno at Galeria Quadrado Azul, Porto (2013); and Trabalho, at Chiado 8 – Arte contemporânea, Lisbon (2012). Group exhibitions include The Lulennial: A Slight Gestuary, curated by Fabiola Iza and Chris Sharp, at Lulu, México City (2015); Acervo.
