Ana Santos - Fernando Lanhas

Quadrado Azul presents "⌠", an exhibition that brings together works by Ana Santos and Fernando Lanhas, in a dialogue between two artists from different generations.

In the paintings of Fernando Lanhas, the lines take shape in an abstract two-dimensionality, marked by a mysticism that is transversal to the work of the painter and architect. If the works of Lanhas seem to result from a purified mundaneity, filtered by thought and spirituality, in Ana Santos' work this process of transition is direct. The materials and forms are extracted from daily life and from industrial and mass logics, later to be stripped of functionality or purpose, which gives them back - or allows us to see - their poetic value. In the two present works, the artist uses materials such as steel iron and polyester.

Two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality are equivalent in the same vision of space and in their games of balance and energy, making evident the contaminations between pictorial creation and sculptural creation. In both sets, the dominant element is the liquid, the line as a ubiquitous and fluid statement, which spreads across the screen and the room.
