Hugo Canoilas is participating in Manifesta 15 Biennial in Barcelona, opening on September 6th, 7th, and 8th in multiple locations in the Barcelona Metropolitan area.
Canoilas installed his works in the garden of the Natural Science Museum in Granollers. There, a group of sculptures in glass, jasmonite, and wool seduce us into the natural world of the deep ocean. Produced by processes close to those of process-based abstraction, these works carry a speculative character, following the artist's search for new forms of life and new places, the ability to imagine new ways of being and interrelating.
Canoilas' works, seamlessly integrated into the garden, serve as vessels for contemplating the objects and natural world around us. They invite us to engage with the garden's flora, fauna, and elements, creating an immersive experience.
Manifesta 15 is curated by Hedwig Fijen and Filipa Oliveira. The exhibition runs until 24 November 2024.
